The botting epidemic in Guild Wars 2 is reaching critical mass, in my opinion. It has come to the point that I, and my wife, are reluctant to help anyone that we don’t know, or suspect would be a botter. God forbid you roll a ranger too, as that will put you immediately in the cross hairs of many a player. It has gotten so bad that I will not rez another player without getting a legible response from them first and I report anyone that appears to be botting. It’s pretty bad that I celebrate a mid-game downtime only because it means there will be no bots on when I log back in. That being said, the gold spam in my mail box has really slowed down, as a matter of fact, I haven’t received any spam like that in a while.

Uh, most bots I’ve seen 1) don’t repair armor because who cares the bear does all the work and 2) will eventually release to a waypoint and continue botting if no one rezzes them 3) will rez anyone nearby for the XP and to keep their multi-boxing fellow bots’ uptime as high as possible.
So … you’re giving up the XP of rezzing someone, and progress towards an achievement, in order to spite someone who’s coded his bots in such a way as to help you if you were in the same circumstance.
I’d call it a Pyrrhic victory, but … it’s not like refusing to rez them gets them detected and banned any faster, so it’s not even a victory.
Your points are valid, and I agree with most of them. However, I have a problem helping the bots. I know that not rezzing them is fighting a losing battle, but at the same time I don’t have to contribute to their activities. If I miss out on a few hundred XP, I’m ok with that. It’s a moral victory, at least.
