The Mask of Mages.
Containing elements of several planes this artifact has power limited only by the will of it’s bearer. Legend states the mask was forced into existence during the battle for the Fugue plane, one of the many side battles of the Revenant War. The High Archmage Aeric The Cunning tricked his team into performing a ritual that- he said- would summon the planar primordials to assist in the battle and turn the tide of the war. Out of desperation Brenin Glan Yn, Fargrim Bloodletter, Xiathan Dawnbringer, and Morgran Stouthammer all lent their consciousness to the ritual giving Aeric the needed resources to create- once again- one of his deepest desires. With this new artifact now in his possession, Aeric was able to almost single handedly turn the course of the battle- and the war. However, the rest of the commanders were not pleased at Aeric’s treachery and began planning a way to remove the Artifact from Aeric’s possession and find a way to undo it’s magic. A situation Aeric had already accounted for. When the team sought Aeric out, he was no where to be seen. It was at this time the former friends and brothers in arms declared war on the holder of the mask.
Over the course of 20 years the team was unsuccessful in locating and removing Aeric. The fate of all but one of his former team remains largely unknown. Brenin Glan Yn died of an illness before the final battle of the Revenant War. It is said that in his final hours he was rambling on about a fire burning in his head that was consuming his thoughts, until he lost the ability to form any kind of coherence- except the name Aeric.
Since that day The Kingdom of Keleran has placed a bounty on the mask. Offering land and title to the one responsible for finding and bringing the artifact to the King, so that he might decide it’s fate.
